This dashboard displays a comprehensive view of course enrollment trends and consists of two primary tabs. The first tab presents a tabular comparison of key metrics between previous and current terms, including total enrollment, enrollment capacity, fill rate, the number of first-year and transfer students, and the number of students on the waitlist for all courses. The second tab features visual comparisons across three focus areas—Enrollment Capacity and Total Sections, Current Waitlist and Total Enrollment, and Course Enrollment by Admit Type.

Definitions

Academic Organization
Academic Organization is the academic unit or department associated with a faculty member, academic advisor, academic plan, or course.

Academic Year
Academic Year refers to a one year period of sequential terms, beginning with Fall, followed by Spring, Summer I, and Summer II. For example, the 2020-2021 academic year consists of the Fall 2020, Spring 2021, Summer I 2021, and Summer II 2021 terms.Academic years may be represented by the 4-digit year of the starting calendar year hyphenated with the 4-digit year of the ending calendar year or the 4-digit year of the beginning calendar year hyphenated with the 2-digit year of the ending calendar year, and are typically preceded by 'AY.' For example, AY 2022-2023 or AY 2022-23 may be used to represent the academic year period Fall 2022 through Summer II 2023.

Admit Type (Undergraduate)
Admit Type refers to the type of admission application an applicant submits.Admit Types for undergraduate degree seeking students are "First Year," "Transfer," "Readmit," "Architecture," and "UNC-NCSU Joint BME."

Course Catalog Number
Course Catalog Number is the number within a particular Subject that identifies a specific course.

Course Component
Course component refers to a distinct part or component within an academic course that contributes to the overall learning experience and fulfillment of course requirements. Course components represents the various types of educational activities or settings through which instruction is delivered and learning is assessed. Values include "Administrative Placeholder"; "Clinical Rotation"; "Discussion" ; "Field Work" ; "Independent Study" ; "Internship, Field Exp, Co-op Ed", "Laboratory"; "Laboratory"; "Lecture"; "Lecture and Lab" ; "Physical Activity"; "Practicum"; "Problem Session"; "Recital, Performance, Ensemble" ; "Recitation";  "Research"; "Seminar"; "Student Teaching"; "Studio" ; "Thesis and Dissertation".

Course Delivery Method
Course Delivery Method refers to how course section instruction is delivered. Values include ''In Person'' which is used for classes taught in person on NC State's campus; ''In Person - Hybrid'' which is used for classes taught in a hybrid (in person and online) format, where more hours of work are completed in person than online; ''Online - Hybrid'' which is used for classes taught in a hybrid (in person and online) format, where more hours of work are completed online than in person; ''Online - Asynchronous'' which is used for classes taught fully online asynchronously; ''Online - Synchronous'' which is used for classes taught fully online synchronously; the previously used ''Internet or World Wide Web'' which is delivered through the internet without a physical location; and ''Correspondence'' which is delivered through stored, non-web media.''Online - Hybrid'' and ''In Person - Hybrid'' may be rolled together as ''Hybrid.'' ''Online - Asynchronous,'' ''Online - Synchronous,'' and ''Internet or World Wide Web'' may be rolled together as ''Online.'' ''Correspondence'' may be rolled up as ''Other.''

Course Enrollment Capacity
Course Enrollment Capacity refers to the maximum number of students that may enroll in a specific course section. Course Enrollment Capacity is often abbreviated to Enrollment Cap.

Course Level
Course Level indicates the instructional level of a course. Values are: ''Agricultural Institute,'' ''Lower Division Undergraduate,'' ''Upper Division Undergraduate,'' ''Master's,'' ''Doctoral-Research/Scholarship,'' and ''Doctoral-Professional Practice.''''Agricultural Institute,'' ''Lower Division Undergraduate,'' and ''Upper Division Undergraduate'' may be rolled together as ''Undergraduate.'' ''Lower Division Undergraduate'' and ''Upper Division Undergraduate'' may be rolled together as ''Undergraduate.'' ''Doctoral-Research/Scholarship'' and ''Doctoral-Professional Practice'' may be rolled together as ''Doctoral.''

Course Subject
Course Subject is the code and description for the subject of a particular course.

Course Total Enrollment
Course Total Enrollment refers to the actual number of students enrolled in a specific course section.

Course Waitlist
Course Waitlist refers to the number of students who have indicated they wish to enroll in a course section which has reached its course enrollment capacity.

Enrollment to Capacity Gap
Enrollment to Capacity Gap is a calculated metric that represents the difference between the previous enrollment capacity and the current total enrollment for a course. It is computed as:Enrollment to Capacity Gap=Previous Enrollment Capacity−Current Enrollment

Fill Rate
Fill Rate refers to the percentage of seats that are occupied by enrolled students. It is calculated by dividing Course Total Enrollment by Course Enrollment Capacity, expressed as a percentage.

Section Number
Section Number is the unique code within the Term, Course Subject, and Course Catalog Number that identifies the class section.

Term Type
Term Type refers to the cyclical academic term without a specified year.Values are: ''Fall,'' ''Spring,'' ''Summer I,'' ''Summer II.''
